Lessons To His Son

KG81 Lessons To His Son...
-When I was cut from the baseball team my freshman year, my dad told me to put that disappointment & anger into a new sport and see where it leads...I tried out for tennis, made Varsity within 1 month, and went on to be the #1 singles & doubles player in the school over the next four years :)

-When I didn't make varsity my sophomore year my dad told me to keep working hard and lead the JV to a championship...we went undefeated and won the JV league championship

-When I was not starting and playing much my Junior year, my dad told me to fully support the team, work even harder, and when my chance comes, make the plays that lead to victory and force the coach to change his mind...I won a starting position during league play and never saw the bench again

-When I didn't make all-league later in my Junior year, my dad told me to be happy for my teammates who did and next year play in such a way that every coach remembers you and is inspired to vote for you...I won the League MVP as a Senior

-When I wasn't selected Senior Captain, my dad told me to support the coaches selections and go out a be the leader on the field where it matters the most...I helped lead the team to its 1st ever CIF Championship

-When my coach was challenging me to play tougher, harder and at a higher level, my dad told me to understand the coaches role of pushing his players to greatness and to be thankful that he even cares enough to do so...my high-school coach is one of my best friends to this day
